CAST: Sports, Arts and Music
CAST currently operates several sports and arts
workshops as part of the Café Cast programme.
SportsCast
SportsCast provides an alternative to the laid back,
atmosphere of the youth café as well as introducing improved general health for
young people through sports. SportsCast runs a number of different styles of
programmes as part of our normal week.
We run a weekly sports session with varied active
sports like Volleyball, Dodgeball, Football and Table tennis. Over the summer
these will be on a Wednesday from 3-4pm.
We also have a new basketball session which is
currently being put together to start in the first week of the summer programme
for all age groups and abilities. This will include coaching from qualified
basketball coaches on a regular basis (Times and dates have to be confirmed so
ask in Café Cast for more details).
DanceCast
The DanceCast programme offers workshops in hip-hop,
street and contemporary dance.
DanceCast have performed in many live events from band nights at Café
Cast to large multi-agency events at the Albert Halls, Stirling, such as the Feel Ur Best Music Fest.
The workshops take place in the Sports Hall at Stirling Baptist Church on a Thursday evening from 7.30-8.30pm.
ArtCast
ArtCast is one of the developing projects at CAST.
The programme started in summer 2006 with graffiti, cartoon and sketching
workshops. ArtCast were also involved in
the making of the CAST Summer Documentary DVD and have recently worked with a
Community Arts Worker from Stirling Council to create podcasts and a logo for
an upcoming youth event.
During the summer ArtCast will be working on a range
of projects including murals, film making and physical art alongside the
regular workshops.
MusicCast
MusicCast aims to provide free or low cost music
workshops to young people in the café.
Workshops include drumming, guitar and DJing. Musicians have previously worked with young
people to develop their talents, and some of these have gone on to perform in
open mic nights and band nights in Café Cast.
