Refresh: Lunchtime Seminars (2009 Programme)

The lunchtime seminar programme within Refresh is aimed at helping people to find answers to the issues and concerns that are important to them as they endeavour to balance home and work demands. If you work in or around Stirling City Centre why not take advantage of this programme.

Seminars will normally take place on the first Thursday of each month (except January, April, July and August).

The proposed programme for the coming year is detailed below but may be subject to change to enable us to work around commitments of speakers and to respond more effectively to topical issues. Venue: The Rock Centre, 1st Floor, 61/63 Murray Place, Stirling

Time: 1.00 for snacks and tea / coffee. 1.10 talk, followed by Q&A. Finish by 1.50

History repeats itself. It has to. Nobody listens first time round. History Prof. David Bebbington of the University of Stirling will suggest what history is really about.

Theoldest profession, but is prostitution really just another service industry, meeting a market demand, or is it cynical exploitation of desperate people. And, if it isn’t a victimless crime, who are the victims and how could they be protected or helped? This seminar should be of particular interest to community groups who might play a helpful role.

REFRESH Seminars are a voluntary service offered by The Rock Community Project for anyone working in Stirling. The programme aims to be a mix of interesting, intriguing, socially relevant and helpful to people’s personal and professional lives. Speakers are generally eminent in their field, but with a Stirling connection which gives the seminars a local relevance. They give their services free of charge. The charge for the seminar is to cover the cost of food only.

It is wise to book in so that we know to cater for you, but if you are interested, you are welcome anyway.
